Blog Blues: Hiatus and a Merry Christmas!

Hi everyone! Several things have been running through my mind recently. One of them is deciding whether BF:BC2 is 100% better than CoD:BO. Another one is what to write next. But the most important thing I have on my mind right now is the blog hiatus. BlueJamK will be put on hold for about a month or so while we/I sort out some stuff with it. No, BJK is not going offline/dead but just in a  break/unconscious state. So, while BlueJamK is on hiatus, share the previous posts with friends and consider sending in that epic story that you wrote last week but can't be bothered to put it onto FanFiction.net. Anyway since it's the nice festive season I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas getting lots of gifts and giving generously (to an extent...) to friends and family. See you soon!

How cool'd it be if you could write in binary code? Just imagine the countless possibilities!

1. Dazzle your online friends by pretending you know binary code!

Advertisement aside, binary code is the "language" in which computers speak in (instead of the stupid little "beep beep beebeep!" that you're used to). Each 1 and 0 is turning a switch on or off (don't know which one is which so don't ask) making commands for the computer to follow. Simple see?

We all know that no sane human would dedicate his/her life to remembering and deciphering binary so there are generators to do it for them!

Strange Wilderness gypsy song

If any of you smart people have seen the movie "Strange Wilderness" then you might remember that song that plays when the team is about to meet Gus. Something like...;

You'll notice that you won't really be able to find the song on the internets too easily. Why? Because this piece of music was composed for Strange Wilderness, meaning that it's not some huge rock song. Anyway with some searching I found it (mp3 thankfully) on some random website (maybe the composers website?)

Robot Unicorn Attack :D

OK, in all honesty I was going to make the title "Harmony Harmony oh Love!" but I decided the professionalism was more important. For the readers that are all like "wut?" about what random trash I'm blathering (ok not really) about, there's this game called Robot Unicorn Attack (skipping all the relatively minor details like the fact it was made by [adult swim] games and produced by Spiritonin Media Games) that rose to fame after being released in February this year when some nutters of 4chan got hold of the song (Always by Erasure) that plays constantly in the game. Now this would be a bad thing if the lyrics didn't look something like this...

The song is quite catchy and after members of 4chan requested the background of the /v/ (videogame) board to be changed to some rainbow colours, it really kicked off. Robot Unicorn Attack on the  [adult swim] games website had a massive increase in plays (now 34 million). The colourful masculine virus spread through the internet with pictures like this...

Well yeah you get the point. Now aside from the fact that it started some internet frenzy, the game itself is rather playable (set in some stupid magical world where you play as a robot unicorn with rainbow hair in a land where grass is purple and the sky is polluted with rainbows and pixies) and is useful if you find yourself bored. iPad 2 launch ready

You may have heard already, but Apple is set to launch the next iPad. The super/ultra cool electronic window pill (iPad 2) is yet to be named but is believed to be available some time in April next year (according to "reports"). The company that manufactures products for Apple, Foxconn Electronics is getting pumped to make 600,000 units of the iPad 2 over the next 100 days in their massive Chinese slave powered sweatshops where no-one gets decent pay or pay at all  factories.
The electro-powered tablet will be shipping around February after some crappy firmware set the whole thing back schedule (not that you'd actually care because you can't buy them til' their in shops).
Lots of people are expecting a huge number of new features in the new iPad such as the over-rated Retina Display (smaller but more numerous pixels for a better image quality), dual-cameras (camera on the inside and outside) to enable the Facetime chat, bigger/smaller screens (for more variety = more money) and a thinner shell (for posh people that are convinced the smaller a computer is, the better). Not to mention a built in USB port for (obviously) "USB's", cameras, printer cords, mouse cords, keyboards, speakers and lamps. Oh wait! Apple is too stupid to put something as simple as a USB port in because it's not cool.
Ok fine if there is a USB port, let's hope for a USB 2.0 at the least (USB 3.0 optimal).

The thing I'm confused with is why are they releasing a new iPad when the old one is pretty good and is only about a year old? They could squeeze so much more cash out of the bad boy before laying smack-down with the new one. One could say that the reason for this quick release is that Apple consider the iPad 2 so damn good that it just can't wait. Or maybe people are complaining that they can't see their girlfriends/boyfriends on video chat. Or maybe it's that long line of wannabe professional competitors that are hastily producing iPad equivalents. But then, dear Apple fan who cares? Just hope it's a good one.

FIFA 2018 location decided

It was decided not too long ago that the 2018 FIFA World Cup would be hosted in Russia by our vodka drinking uhh... Russians.
Each country that wished to be the host of the World Cup presented the FIFA council with a presentation with the "Why it should be in our country" sort of thing (sounds kinda like a job interview). Then the council goes through several rounds of voting, with the countries that receive the least amount of votes being eliminated (hahahaha England being taken out with only 2 votes on the first round what???).Russia won on the second round with 13 votes and are already planning to build thirteen (wow...) stadiums and renovate three.

On the other side Qatar won the bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. All I know is that Qatar is mega rich from all that oil/gas/power stuff that it's sitting on in the Persian Gulf (so their stadiums have to be good right?) and run by an even richer royal family. People in USA were super-duper-mega-not-so-awesome disappointed by this and not only did thousands of angry burger-eating (that's mean) American citizens spam Twitter with stuff like "Qatar? Wow. Soccer actually just got less relevant in the US". What's so wrong with the Middle East? Oh.. wait...

Anyway, wait around for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Rio De Janeiro and international relations to improve!

Camera timez!

Mark me as out of date but I just got my first ever real/decent ipod. It's a 5th gen ipod Nano with epikz camera. The camera is currently being put to good use in some production stuff. The lulz is that the camera quality for the ipod is the same if not better than my old Canon digital camera. Once I get a good Youtube name, I'll upload one video that I've captured.

Remembrance Day 2010

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of each year, every Commonwealth nation stops and pays respect to the people, that gave their lives for their country in times of war, especially The Great War. At 11AM, we observe a minutes silence after the Last Post is played. So remember the fallen of war and their sacrifices, Lest We Forget.

NaNoWriMo 2010

November is the month of novel writing. Or so says the internets. Anyway, the National Novel Writing Month is an online competition (against yourself mostly) for EVERYONE (with internet) challenging them to write a 50,000 word (175 page) novel by the end of the month. Read on (from the site).

What is NaNoWriMo?

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.
Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.
Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It's all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.
Make no mistake: You will be writing a lot of crap. And that's a good thing. By forcing yourself to write so intensely, you are giving yourself permission to make mistakes. To forgo the endless tweaking and editing and just create. To build without tearing down.
As you spend November writing, you can draw comfort from the fact that, all around the world, other National Novel Writing Month participants are going through the same joys and sorrows of producing the Great Frantic Novel. Wrimos meet throughout the month to offer encouragement, commiseration, and—when the thing is done—the kind of raucous celebrations that tend to frighten animals and small children.
In 2009, we had over 165,000 participants. More than 30,000 of them crossed the 50K finish line by the midnight deadline, entering into the annals of NaNoWriMo superstardom forever. They started the month as auto mechanics, out-of-work actors, and middle school English teachers. They walked away novelists.

What: Writing one 50,000-word novel from scratch in a month's time.
Who: You! We can't do this unless we have some other people trying it as well. Let's write laughably awful yet lengthy prose together.

To be able to make obscure references to passages from our novels at parties. To be able to mock real novelists who dawdle on and on, taking far longer than 30 days to produce their work.

So it doesn't matter if you're C.S Lewis or some really crappy amateur wannabe homebrew junkie made it on notepad writer, join in TEH FUN of writing a quick (as in, 50,000 word quick) novel. I've started (will post my story at the end of the month, have no intention of getting to 50,000), why don't you?

A lonely, late month update

Yes we haven't been posting in the fervor we were in before for a few reasons (scapegoat time); we've been having end of year exams, Blue has been ill with a virus and is tired often, Jam and K have planned to post for the holidays and we all have our own projects at hand. So, happy November (pinch and a punch for the fourth day of the month) and be sure to check BJK often (posts have been planned).

Happy Halloween people! (yes, it's the 31st of October...)
For the guys in different time zones, it's tomorrow (or something close to it) but better early then late.
Halloween isn't that big of a deal in Australia so uhh.... any international guests willing to comment on what they do?
So remember to trick or treat people. If you don't live in a gated community (because they could hunt you down), you should also try pelting their mailboxes with off eggs or leave toilet paper lying around.
Oh yes and try not to eat Snickers, not everyone is aware of your life threatening peanut allergy (what a way to end you night by lying in hospital with a whole bunch of hives on your face).

Paul the Octopus rest in peace

Paul in action

The oracle octopus of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Paul, passed away yesterday on Tuesday, 26th of October due to natural causes (common octopus only live for 2 years). The little common octopus lived in an aquarium in Oberhausen, Germany in a Sea Life Centre and was born in the January of 2008 in Weymouth, England.
Paul's claim to faim was his stunning ability to accuratly predict all of Germany's matches in the 2010 FIFA World Cup (he got 8/8). Paul would be presented with two boxes (both marked with a flag of the countries in the upcoming match) with mussels inside them. Which ever box he swam in first would be predicted to win.
Paul's remains were cremated though they are still deciding where to bury the ashes.
Paul's life was undoubtedly more eventful then any other octopus, and will be remembered for a long time.

Fable III Preview

Summary
The third installment to the Fable series,  the action RPG Fable III will be released in a few days. Not very long.
Fable III has had many tradtional RPG mechanics stripped from it, most noticably the menu system. That's right, Fable III has no menu. "How do you change weapons?" you say. Well, when you press the "Start" button, you're transported to a little place called the "Sanctuary". Here you will meet the player's butler, a fellow called "Jasper" who gives you in-game advice. In the "Sanctuary" you will be able to do all the things that have been removed with the menu through items such as wardrobes and shelves.

Information
Fable III is developed by Lionhead Studios (the same people that made the Black and White series) and published by Microsoft Game Studios. The game is to be released on Xbox 360 in four days (seven days for Europe) and on the PC (as part of Microsoft's renewed PC gaming commitment) sometime in November (and I bet the PC version is smaller).

Plot
Set 50-60 years after Fable II, the game takes place on the continent of Albion where the old monach (the hero of Fable II) has died being replaced by Logan, an evil king. Logan's brother (you) is forced into becoming a sort of revolutionary leader, rallying the support of the Kingdom of Albion's people. In the second part of the game, you have overthrown Logan and you must now govern the public along with facing the chance of going to war with the neighbouring country "Aurora".

Gameplay
The big thing about the Fable series the the "morphing" of things depending on your actions (you and your weapon change depending on your actions). For example, your sword will become bigger if you use more advanced attacks and blocks. The menu system is (as I mentioned before) replaced by the Sanctuary. The game is also calssified as "second life" type of thing. You govern everything in your kingdom such as taxes and crime management. Your are also able to marry and have children (in Fable III you are able to adopt children, you can have a homosexual marrage). Fable III introduces area morphing where places change depending on your actions on it (if you tax the place heavily the buildings will look shabby and the people will hate you). Finally a new feature is the "Expression Touch" and "Dynamic Touch". You are able to do things with these functions, like flirt with NPC's and (hehehe) this could eventually lead to a relationship. Fable III developer Peter Molyneux gave some examples of these functions, if a child was in a burning building, you would be able to use the "Expression Touch" to confort it and then use the "Dynamic Touch" to carry it out safely.

Conclusion
Fable III looks like a great game. The graphics are decent, the "morphing" thing seems totally awesome and the whole "you can do pretty much anything" is NEAT. +++!

Wii, Betrayed and Destroyed

As you may know Wii is one of the most popular gaming systems of all time, it's great interactive originalness and  
great games set it apart from the rest in fun. Nintendo has also aimed it's sights at fitness, with the Wii fit regime. But all of Wii's credibility has been stolen by Microsoft and my favourite..... Sony.

The Playstation Move is Sony's attempt at motion gaming, and I far as I can tell it is the same as a Wii, a stick that you move around to make stuff on your LCD move,,, honestly have Wii heard of copyright, Nintendo should sue Sony.

Microsoft's creation is amazing and less influenced by the Wii, it is called Kinect and it is a camera fitted to your X-box that senses your motions, without the aid of a Wii stick and turns the video into "so as I am told" a brilliant gaming experience, now I want one of these. But they have still based their designs of Wii's rock hard foundation.

So COME ON NINTENDO... FIGHT BACK!!!!!!!!!!

Gaming Platforms Generation 8 Preview

If you haven't noticed, we're currently sitting in the 7th generation of consoles/handhelds which consists of three main competitors, Sony (PS3, PSPgo), Microsoft (Xbox 360) and Nintendo (Wii, DSiXL).
However, the 8th generation is soon to start in 2011 with Nintendo releasing a confirmed successor to the DS ( I don't know why they do it, they just released the XL...) named the Nintendo 3DS. There is also another Nintendo console in progress that is designed to replace the Wii although no details have been released (the co-creator of Metroid tested it and said "It will leave your mouth open", so it's gotta be good right?).
Nintendo isn't alone in the 8th gen though, Sony is rumored to be working on a little thing called the PS2P (it's been rumored for a while now, being the subject of fan art and forum wars :p). As much attention it's been getting, Sony hasn't released anything about the hand-held (probably stingy because it'll give them a surprise value when it comes out).
Next to that electronics giant Panasonic has announced that it'll be releasing Jungle, a hand-held with MMO playing in mind (the result is a little laptop thing), marking it's first attempt at making a hand-held platform.
It is unknown if Microsoft will join in with a Xbox 720. Jokes.
So get ready for 2011, the start of the 8th generation.

Mortal Kombat Preview

Voted as the most anticipated game of Sony E3, the upcoming ninth installment of the "Mortal Kombat" series, Mortal Kombat (9) takes place at the same time as MK 1, 2 and 3 but in an alternate universe. Published by Warner Bros. Mortal Kombat 9 will be available on Xbox 360 and PS3 (a PC version is being considered due to the European market) sometime in 2011.  What makes this installment different from the previous ones is for the most obvious, the graphics. High quality 3D characters on a 2D pane, unique animations for each of the characters and large amounts of blood.
Also the user input has changed. There are now four buttons to attack with, one for each corresponding limb. A "super-meter" has been added for value. Every time your character dishes out a combo or takes damage, the bar is given some fuel. When it has reached the required level, the super meter will give the player the ability to perform a special attack, interrupt a combo or perform this critical hit combo called a "X-ray" move. For good reason. The character that performs it will mash the opponents organs/bones with the camera zooming in and showing the bones of the victim.
There are also several confirmed play modes including Tag-team, Challenge Tower and an online King of the Hill. There will be a total of 26 characters, of which 12 have been confirmed. Cyrax, Johnny Cage, Kitana, Kung Lao, Mileena, Nightwolf, Raiden , Reptile, Scorpion, Sektor, Shao Kahn and Sub-Zero. Since Mortal Kombat 9 is basically a retelling of the first three games, most of the characters from them will be in this new one. Additionally there will be several unique fatalities for each character (no characters will be having shared animations). And trust me, just after watching the stage demo fatalities, I understood why the game was rated M.

Pokemon Naranja

If you've ever wanted to play as Ash in Pokemon games (along with the anime story line) this game is for you! Sen in the Orange Islands, the game follows Ash's adventures throughout the season (all episodes included apparently). You can also get the funny coloured Pokemon that are in the anime as well. Unfortunately it's in Spanish (a hack too) and you might need to get someone to translate it for you (or learn the buttons off by heart). I'm not sure if you need and emulator.

Artemis Fowl: The Atlantis Complex Review

Released on the 20th of July 2010, the 7th book of the Artemis Fowl series follows Artemis as he suffers from a magical illness known as "Atlantis Complex" causing him to be distrustful of anyone, count everything in fives (sentences, steps, etc.), believe four as unlucky and eventually split personality
Artemis is in Iceland, demonstrating his latest experiment to Holly, Foaly and Wing Commander Vinyaya. A new technology that will save melting glaciers by snow crystals that reflect heat.
A unidentified fairy space probe suddenly crashes into their shuttle, killing Vinyaya and her team of LEP. Artemis starts to go crazy, believing that Foaly is here to steal his invention the "Ice Cube". Amorphobots roll out of the probe and start to attack them. Escaping, they eventually discover that the "evil guy" is Turnball Root, deceased Julius Root's brother who is locked away in an Atlantian Prison.

While the start is a bit confusing, the rest is good reading and locks you on like a little magnet bent on global domination.  The book is the first to feature Atlantis, the underwater metropolis complete with water elves and giant domes. While a children's book, a surprisingly large amount of people die. And the ending is bittersweet. I won't ruin it for you but Turnbull isn't trying to take over the world. Not a good deal better then the last but refreshing after dwelling with all those times with trying to stop someone stealing stuff.
There's a nice dose of action in this one aswell.

Game Emulation

Ever wanted to play that old NES game that isn't around any more? Don't your parents want to waste money on your silly Nintendo games? Do you not have a console? Then you have just been bathed in mythical light! Game emulators are the way to go!
An emulator is a program that mimics the functions of a system using another one. In this case we're talking about a console (like a Xbox) or hand-held (like a GBA) to a computer. Game emulators run on these things on ROMs (Read Only Memory image). While emulators themselves are squeaky clean, a commercial ROM is illegal. Home-brew ROMs are clean.
 Lots of people use emulators for an equal (or greater) amount of reasons. Most people will play emulators for a few basic reasons; it's free, the game isn't sold any more or you can take that PS3 game around in a laptop. Of course there are the basic downsides as well. For one thing, you can't really lug your desktop around (sure you could a laptop but it's not the same) for hand-held games. Also, many of the games you might be itching to play are, as I said before, illegal.
Seeing as most people disregard the "illegal" part, emulators are thriving. A few have become well known on the net.
Some good emulators:
No$gba - Nintendo DS and GBA. Setup may confuse some.
VisualBoyAdvance - GBA, GB and GBC. Keys can jam on action games.
BoycottAdvance - GBA. Can't play as many games as VisualBoy. No speed multiplier.
Project64 - Nintendo 64.
DeSuME - Nintendo DS. No speed multiplyer.

Anyone have anything to share?

Scissors Paper Rock? No... wait...

Now, you all should know how to play scissors paper rock (or rock paper scissors for American translation :D) right? Ever realised that you are bored with 3 choices and that you have over 20% chance of drawing? How boring is that? Well, there is Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock to play. You might be satisfied with five. But for the hardcore dudes here's a new one (a person on Gameface101 showed me this). With 15 choices, the chance of you hitting equal are super low (best played with a larger group). The chart is easy enough to understand (but hard to remember). Each choice defeats every thing 7 to it's anti-clockwise side. Fun.

New Ipods, Jam's Point of View+ Review

Now, most of us if not all of us must have at some point in our lives owned an ipod. They are the king of the MP3 world the: Nano, Touch, Classic and Shuffle.

The new touch: The touch is a great device, giving you the versitility and apps of a iphone in a much more affordable and indespensible device (it's thinner too) but all of the touch fans always wanted a feature the iphone and old nano had, a camera.

Apple responded and now the ipod touch with camera has arrived. It can video, take great pics and has a retina display ( for all that arent apple geeks that means the screen responds better to your finger and the display is clearer)

I commend apple on their efforts! 9/10

Now the new ipod nano (cringe)

I see what apple wants to do with their new product. They want to make a ipod touch style ipod that you can take everywhere and use its cool apps and so on , but what I can't understand is that why would they make a ghastly new ipod that looks as crap as it is when they had an awesome model already in the stores. It's like they upgraded it just for the sake of... well nothing.

You see I loved the old ipod nano it was: light, stylish and had the most awesome video camera with a squillion different effects on it, in other words it was awesome.

Also the touch screen can be a bit glitchy and I loved the old control wheel, if they take that off the classic I will personally drink 200 gallons of whisky and fall into a coma for 45 years.

So Steve Jobs, I hate your stupid new nano: 6/10

The new shuffle:  Yes, it is brillant. I am so pleased that apple went back to the old shuffles controls they are great, unlike the stupid old shuffle which you controlled by pressing a certain part of the headphones which is impossible to do without dislodging 10 vetebrae in your back.

Apple has also adopted a groovy square shape for the shuffle. This looks pukingly bad on the nano but orgasmic on the shuffle, no wonder Blue wants to collect them all: 8.5967.

So overall apple you did a pretty good job.

Lawnmowers and Soul, a rant by Jam

Lawnmowes can be great and they can be amazingly crap. Don't get me wrong they are very useful and some of them are awesome, like the self propelled ones and the cool ride on ones but these are extremely expensive. I used to own a old Honda 2 stroke mower that lasted 25 years!The only problem with it was it was impossible to start; a fact that is not helped by the ironic tag on the fuel tank saying Honda, easy start mower. If you have ever tried to start my mower you would know it is imposible to start it without reducing your pelvis to dust.So recently I got a new one and I don't really like it. It just hasn't got the soulof the old mower. Don't get me wrong it runs brillantly, so much better than my old one, but things than run better than my old mower include, the Bin Laden hotline and the Gold Coast bus network. But ask yourself this question, when did humans decide that our frontyard fields have to be trimmed? Why do we mow, really it is stupid!

And now some Germans have made it even stupider! They have created a mower that weighs 100 tonnes and trims your entrire acearge in 2 seconds it costs 1.9 million euros and is as useless as a turd.

The Verdict:  If you want a mower buy a 25 year old one that cannot start.

Artemis Fowl Review

Artemis Fowl is a 12 year old criminal master mind. He lives in Fowl Manor (a really big house for rich cats) with is mentally ill mother, his bodyguard Butler and Butler's sister, Juliet. After his father disappeared a few years ago (along with most of the family's money) genius Artemis (yes, he is terribly arrogant) has a plan to recover the Fowl fortune. With gold stolen from Faries. Young Artemis and his bodyguard Butler search far and wide for a fairy, looking for a key to the secret civilization deep underground. Eventually, they capture a fairy (an elf in fact), Captain Holly Short of the LEP (Lower Elements Police). They plan to use her as ransom to receive one tonne of gold from the People (fairy civilization).

Written by Eoin Colfer (who is a comedian), this book is smart, witty and fast. Not to mention funny with numerous puns and jokes. The writing style is superb. Easy to understand for the younger and a nice relaxing read for the mature. The book is like a comic that has been filtered through a complex converter (there is a comic version, but I don't recommend it). As the whole book (and it's series) is based around master plans by Artemis, it is enthralling to see a plan being executed and explained (these are the parts where you go "Ahhhh! That's how he did it!"). I enjoyed reading this novel enough for me to motivate myself to be smart as well (yes, my grades are getting better).
Overall, a great read with humour and action. Positively awesomenessly.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Preview

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood Preview
OUTLINE
A NEW TRAILER was released recently on July 14, 2010 featuring the next and third instalment of the Assassin’s Creed Series- Brotherhood. The game is set in the Renaissance Period in Rome.

In the recently released trailer: it shows Ezio Auditore in the year 1506AD, on an “easy mission” to confront a leader of the Templars. From this, we see amazingly awesome graphics- faces’ description and detail of Rome is absolutely flawless- predictions of epic scenes as seen here, and some hardcore battling.

INFORMATION: The game is developed by Unisoft Montreal, and published by Ubisoft, and will be available on Microsoft Windows, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. There are Single and Multiplayer modes, with both of them from 3rd person point of view.

PLOT: The player once again controls the character Ezio Auditore through the genetic memory (previous memory) of Desmond Miles. Ezio needs to reorganize and recruit his previous members of his Brotherhood, and can do this by completing missions and going further through the game. Rome has fallen under the rule of the Templars, and your job is to rebuild Rome.

Weapons and gadgets are available such as: Da Vinci’s parachute- to jump off tall buildings, melee-knives, a range of weapons, throwing axes, and introducing the hidden pistol into battle.

MULTIPLAYER: Rome isn’t the only used city, with Florence being available to explore during the Multiplayer.

There are a range of game modes, but the main one to stand out will be “Wanted”, where 6-8 players will be dropped on a map, with one player to kill and penalties for being spotted. Graphics aren’t as impressive in the Multiplayer game mode as Single Player, but still awesome.

GAMEPLAY: There is more dynamic game play featured in Brotherhood. There is a brand new fighting technique called BAM- Brotherhood Assist Move- where you can call on your fellow assassins to support you in a fight.

Fight scenes are slightly delayed- you can only attack one player at a time.
Graphics are great, and Multiplayer game play isn’t seen as laggy.
This game is one to challenge all others, and is seen as the best of the Assassin’s creed series so far.

Changes around here... and a heads up

Imagine this hitting you. That what it was like for me. Just no pain.

Y'know, I was looking at the blog today when BOOM a missile hit me. Not a real missile of course. The "missile" part was just an abstract way of saying "big" which in turn can also mean "huge". This huge thing that hit me was confirmed by my good friend Carl, Jam and K (not at the same time of course). The back ground looks bland. Like, stripey kind of bland. I mean, it's just some template made by some person who was really bored or had a high paying job. Great. This means that over the weekend (I've got homework like all smart people C;) the blog will be recieving a makeover along with a whole fist full of posts. Not just a hand, a fist. Of course the posts aren't certain to come (mine are as usual :p) but hey, everyone needs a life right?

LOL Limewire!

When I first discovered (I was actually told by my good friend Carl) this little flash animation, I was baffled by it's sheer stupidity and randomness. Of course, all it features is a little 10 second loop of some guy singing and little pirate things dancing across the screen with the words "LOL Limewire". So, being a really strange person, I decided to do some research on it. Here's what I found:

1. The little tune apparently comes from the silly and annoying kids tv show, Lazy Town
2. The words "LOL Limewire" are there because Limewire got sued for piracy

Metroid: Other M Preview

Metroid, a classic 2D game of fun shooting and jumping around in a big red/orange suit. Most of us will remember playing this game at some point in their childhood. Those who don't probably played Pokemon or Mario (they're all good). Well, a new Metroid game has arrived. Announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2009, Other M will delve deeper into Samus' (main character) story. Although already released, this article is designed to be an incentive for you to buy the game. Hence "preview". "Preview" also means "I haven't played this game yet."

Other M is produced by Nintendo, created by Team-M a combined group of Nintendo, Team Ninja and D-Rockets. It is a return to the main series, not Prime and is released on Wii.

Story:
The story revolves (as usual) around Samus Aran, a bounty hunter in a big suit. The game is chronologically placed between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion. The story is fairly complex unlike most other Nintendo games.

Gameplay:
Other M is the first Metroid game to feature first person sniping. While you can't move when in this sniping mode, you have increased accuracy, a neat crosshair to aim with, lock targets and see enemies in cool 1st person view. The sniping mode is also used for exploring to discover hidden items. Other M is also the first game in the entire series to feature a melee combat system that require some timing (like combos). You can use the Sense Move to dodge enemy attacks, Counter attack to counter attack, Lethal Strike and Overblast (for finishing moves) and Concentration Tecnique for regenerating health.

Special Features:
If the right goals are matched, players can unlock a special two hour film that contains every cut scene in the game and some clips of gameplay by the developers. FUN!

Apple ipod Nano Gen 6 Preview

As you might have heard, the new gen 6 ipod Nano has been released. It features a small square design with a screen of 240x240 pixel resolution. It has a clip just like the ipod Shuffle and is available in seven colours that make collectors drool. The 6th gen is 46% smaller and 42% lighter then the gen 5 model. But even with these features, the biggest thing is the ipod Nano's heat sensitive touch screen. Now with the ability to respond to your spinning, sliding, tapping, swiping and shaking commands, the ipod Nano is just like a compact, baby version of the ipod Touch (which there is also a new model). Though still with only a max of 16GB of flash memory, the new design really brings out the meaning of "nano".
Although Apple fans will be over the moon with the upgrade, others will find many faults. For the first (and least significant), the new ipod requires you to download iTunes 10. A massive filesize for people with slow internet connection. The screen is over 100pixles shorter then the last one (generation 5) and features no camera or microphone. Worst of all there is no video playback, meaning all those movies, clips and other things that you might have would have gone to waste. All this means that it isn't much more then a slightly larger ipod Shuffle (which there is also a new model) with a touch screen. Don't worry sport people, it's compatible with Nike +
Overall, I'd stay with the 5th generation or get the ipod Touch. Shuffle is not recommended.

Kapersky Protection Lab- new, Japenese and surprisingly good

The first thing you need to know about kapersky lab is that it is a virus protection program and has a funny name.


Moving on...
The name Norton demands a lot more respect in the virus protection world. It is the leader in virus protection, but can this new Japensese competetor knock it off its high horse? This new Japenese virus protection is just as expensive as Norton and Avast for that matter, at 100 dollars a pop, but it's protection contract lasts 3 times longer than any of it's competitors that means that it is really quite reasonable. Just like small Japenese cars.It is also quite efficiant, I have tried out Norton, Avast and Kapersky and I have to say that Kapersky is the best of the lot, it is easier to use, update and the control panel is not impossible to use and has great graphics, the program is also great at picking up riskware and trojians,like it did om my PC.Therefore I believe that this new program sports the ability to be the best virus protection program available, and there is more... There is a new one.

So if your game pop down to JB on the weekend a grab yourself a copy of this amazing new software!

Flip Mino HD Review

I personally own one of these, and thought to make a review on it.
The new Flip Mino HD comes in a fancy box with necessary instructions. I was explained to about all the details and gadgets about the Mino, and grew more and more satisfied without even picking it up.
Main:
The main thing that sets the Mino apart from other Video Cameras is its size. It is less than 10cm long, less than 5cm wide, and weighs 90grams.
The Mino comes with an amazing program called FlipShare. This program enables you to save your videos to your computer, make movies, send postcards, add music to your videos, share your videos, upload to You Tube, Facebook, Myspace. This program is amazing and totally user-friendly. I have used it countless times to make movies and publish them to You Tube.
The USB port is located on the top of the Mino with a cool, tricky gadget to flip it up. Installation of FlipShare is very easy.
Quality:
The HD title says it all about quality. It contains 720p with a frame rate of 30ps. Amazingly impressive for this little midget.
Zoom:
Not very impressive, only 3x optical zoom, but it does the job.
Memory:
1hour memory space. If you want to, you can upgrade to the Flip Mino HD Ultra; this has a larger screen- (still 720p), but increased memory to 2 hours.
Battery:
Around 1 hour which is all you need. The Mino will automatically turn off after around 30 seconds of no use, which is quite handy.
This is one of the best video cameras around these days, and I really recommend getting one of these babies. They are handy, easy to use, and come with amazing software for all kinds of purposes.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Review

Just watched this.
Sequel to the 2008 Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen follows the story of Sam Witwicky, a kid trapped in the middle(ish) of a Cybertronian civil war. As he goes to college as a freshman, Decepticons wreck havoc through Shanghai, barely stopped by NEST, a force of the combined forces of humans and Autobots (good Transformers). The President of America is convinced that the Decepticons only remain on Earth to do battle with the Autobots. The real reason the Decepticons remain is to extract valuable information that has been embedded into Sam's mind by a piece of the All Spark to discover the location of the key to an energy amassing, sun destroying machine. The treasure hunt leads to Egypt, where the final battle takes place.

A heavily anticipate film (by me and crazy fans), Transformers 2 failed to achieve it's expectation. Though it has epic EPIC battle scenes, SUPER high CGI detail on robots and REALLY COOL special effects, it still disappointed many. This, however, didn't stop guys (and gals) from making the movie a money making success (they probably came back for the action scenes). Being directed by Micheal Bay, you could almost already expect the movie to be all action. The film had very little time for character development. Transformers 2 featured no introduction for new characters. Even then, you didn't see some of them for half the movie. You'd forget about them and be totally surprised when they reappeared. There was a lacking of complex story, so much that I reckon it would be possible to publish it into a picture book, leaving the actors with nothing important to say. Nothing was really explained and it all just "happened". There was also some unneeded crude humour, like when Wheelie humps Mikaela's leg, I was like, "sigh...please no." But aside from the lack of story, character development and the fact that it wasn't better then first Transformers, the great amount of action and special effects makes up for it.

Why I don't like Twilight.

As you may have noticed my co-bloggers have been posting a lot lately about Twilight, a global phenomanon. They say that it is surprisingly good and fun to watch, I... disagree.
The problem I have with Twilight is that it dwells to much in emotion that is dull and sometimes amazingly cheesy. The storyline is the only thing that is OK but that as well is cheesy and watching it is like drowning in wallpaper paste. But those are the movies and now I move on to the book.

The writing in the book is brillant, it is very good it is the only thing in the series I like. Unfortunaley Meyer wastes her awesome writing on vampire romance stories, but still somehow she has made millions of dollars and sparked a vampire craze around the world: Vampire Diries, Pure Blood, Vampires Suck they are all clinging to the tower of the vampire that is twilight, moving on imagine if Meyer used her writing in more useful places that are exciting and un-cheesy she would be a zillionaire. So if you are reading this humble blog Stephenie I hope you take my advice into account.

Eclipse Movie Review

Eclipse came out a couple of months ago and I have seen it a few times and I think that it was worth it.
The movie begins with a young man in Seattle, being attacked by a strange creature. And then once again with a preface recital with Bella talking about fire and ice.
Bella’s decision to become a vampire has been scheduled for graduation, which comes up fast. But in her contract for Edward to be the one to make her a vampire, he has asked her to marry him. Even though she loves Edward, she thinks she is too young, and that other people would see it as if she was rushing into it and as if she’d just been “knocked up”.
Bella is also nervous about never seeing her family again after becoming a vampire, and a visit to her mother strengthens these feelings. Even so, the only thing she ever wants is Edward.
Jacob isn’t talking to her because of the decision she has made. Though they get talking again, and Bella discovers the Quileute Tribe’s stories- some good action and cinematography there.
The infamous Victoria is on the run- there are some good chase scenes involved there.
Newborn vampires are happening in Seattle, and the Cullens plan to stop it.
The movie lacks once again in the middle with a lot of conversational talking and less action. This is because in Eclipse many stories are explained, such as Rosalie’s and Jasper’s.
Training takes place for the battle- good cinematography and action there.
The climax is at the end, where the newborn vampires travel to Forks. The vampires and werewolves team up and a large battle takes place.
One main character dies- I will not reveal the name.
The storyline is good.
An improvement with the music- still slightly original though.
Acting is almost excellent now, an 8.5 is quite well suited.
Cinematography is still at a high level, but lacks a bit, with a bit less effects.
Action is improving.
Overall, a slight improvement to New Moon and the best of the Twilight Saga so far. (Do remember these are my thoughts on the movie)

Ever heard of ASCII Art? If you have, well done. If you haven't then let me explain. ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange. Basically this means letters on a computer. Now, what if you put lots of different ASCII characters (like $%@&) together to make a picture? That's what ASCII Art is. Now, what if you had a generator that made this art for you? With any picture you internet can upload? HAHA. Yes, they do exist. A simple visit to any search engine (preferably Google) and you can find one.

Check it out. Here was my experiment with a Greenday album cover (Glassgiant one that allows you to upload images).

New Moon Movie Review

Here is the 2nd movie of the Twilight Saga, and the review:
The movie begins once again with a preface recital, and shows Bella running through a large crowd of people dressed in red.
Bella is faced with a fact that while she grows older and gets closer to dying, her Edward stays the same, perfect immortal self. This is sparked by a dream of her looking like her Grandma, mirroring herself, and the fact that she turns 18 during the movie. So the option of becoming an immortal vampire like Edward comes into her mind.
Bella comes very close to death at her birthday party, when blood is spilt.
A quarter way through the movie, Edward and his family leaves Forks; Edward hoping to give her a better life.
She goes into a deep depression, and the movie lacks a bit at this part. Her old friend, Jacob Black, (Taylor Lautner) comes in handy and a lot of the movie is based around how much Bella gets to like Jacob, and how he masks the “deep hole in her heart”.
Even so, she sees pictures of Edward, whenever she is in danger. This causes her to become an “adrenalin junky”, hoping to hear his voice and see him.
Her depression goes on for months, and just as she seems to get the hold of herself, Jacob turns into a werewolf. The cinematography involved with the shape-shifting is absolutely fantastic.
The climax comes up near the end, where, Alice, (Ashley Greene), returns to Forks and explains how Edward thinks Bella is dead.
They race off to Italy to the Volturi. And a small battle takes place.
There is an improvement in acting from Twilight-the nerves have eased off. The music is a bit too original, the movie lacks a bit of action through the beginning and middle but the great cinematography and storyline make up for it.
Overall, an improvement to Twilight. (Do remember these are my thoughts on the movie)

Twilight Movie Review

Here is the Twilight Review,
I just saw Twilight and it is the 1st of the 4 movies of the Twilight Saga. If you haven’t seen it, I suggest reading this:
The movie begins with a preface recital, of Bella, (Kristen Stewart) talking about dying in the place of someone she loves. (I thoroughly suggest reading the novel before viewing, so as to understand the movie). Bella moves away from sunny Phoenix, away from her enthusiastic mother, (who re-married) to Forks, Washington to her father-Charlie.
At Forks, she encounters a strange family, of “beautiful” people. One of them, Edward, (Robert Pattinson) obtains an interest in her. Through the movie, they get closer together and get to know each other more. It’s a bit slow at these parts but is still ok. Though, soon Bella notices some strange things about Edward. Immense strength, super speed, good looks, and language from the previous century. The effects here are good.
Edward finally breaks it to her, that he is a vampire after a close encounter with some dangerous men.
The family is introduced and it comes down to a baseball game where the climax starts. There are fantastic effects here. After an encounter with other vampires, a chase starts across America and ends in a ballet room, where a battle takes place. A bit gruesome at parts but all good.
Storyline could be better in the facts of more action throughout the early of the movie, but still pretty good. Acting is slightly dodgy-(it is the 1st movie), but well suited. (Do remember these are my thoughts on the movie)

Strange things about blogs...

last post of the day. I was looking around the Blogger website and I decided to click "Next Blog" thinking YAYA MORE FUN! But no, it was a diary blog. First sentence "My wonderful 3 yr old..." oh... ok. Next blog, first sentence "I moved to my mums house with my beautiful newborn..." uh... ok... and the trend kept going and going and going. All of the 10 I went past were diarys or memoirs or something. Strange. Not saying that you can't but srs. Why would you do that unless you're desperate for attention about your life.But then again, the web is the perfect place to record things (like memories). Just a very public place. D:

Top Ten Free Software August 2010

This is the BlueJam TOP TEN list of FREE yes FREE programs. Don't worry they're completely legal (no jokes). Please note that I don't have magical powers to scroll through the internet instantly so if your favorite program isn't here it's because we haven't used it before. (No trials here except for NCH products)

1. GOM Player - Refer to it as "God Of Media". Name the file type, it can play (just videos, audio, swf  and probably more). Even better it can play broken AVI's even play while the AVI's downloading.
 2. Avast! - A well known free anti-virus. Works very well. Jam uses Kapersky ;_; Tried AVG?
 3. Magic DVD Ripper - Rips and Copies DVDs protected or not. Can rip the DVD to different formats including; MP4, MPEG 2, AVI and MOV. Like AnyDVD but free.
4. GIMP - Sorta like a free version of Adobe's Fireworks. Under the GNU license.
5. Avidimux - A simple video editing program. Nothing on Adobe Premiere of course. But it does it's job.
6. NCH Sound & Audio Software range - A great set to have. From Switch Sound File Converter to Express Audio CD Burner they'll all serve you well. Check out the NCH Video Software range too.
7.RealPlayer - A great versatile video and audio player. Like GOM covers many file types but is very slow and cumbersome. Also comes with a great audio/video downloader. Go onto Youtube, Metacafe, Redtube Google Video etc and RealPlayer will download.
8. Audacity - Nice basic program for recording and playing with audio.
9. Wimpy FLV Playr - Like a more compact, less versatile, more portable version of GOM Player. Wimpy also has other great media players. Check them out.
10. Covert AVI to MP4 - A very bland straight forward program. No options, no preferences. Just open your AVI into the program, choose where to output and the program does the rest. Great for beginners who know nothing about bit rates. For more advanced users, try NCH's Prism Video Converter.

Top Ten Games of All Time August 2010

 These are the top ten games of all time (according to us)
1.Grand Theft Auto 4- For it's intense fun, intense storyline, amazing graphics, freeroaming and all of the great things GTA brings.
2.Assassins Creed 2:- This game has the best graphics I have ever seen in a game. Freeroaming is good and the storyline is a million times better than the first one.
3.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2- For the fun factor, and amazing multiplayer you cant go wrong with COD6, so many Hours of My life have been lost playing this game.
4.Starwars Battlefront 2 (PS2)- This was one of the first games on my PS2 and in my opinion is one of the classics, it has INTENSE fun and it has good co-op.
5.God of War 3- Nothing is more exciting than ripping off monsters heads in the great graphical world of God of War.
6.Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 2 - The best (in my opinion) strategy game ever, and the game I will probably play after this post. :D
7.Total War Series- The strategy series that brought historic battles to life. Total war is so fun to play plus it has a great battle engine.
8.Need for Speed: Underground/Most Wanted - These games best played on a PS2 and are great fun. The racing on these games is fast and intense and most importantly very fun.
9.Sims 3- Sims is great because it is easy enough to play.... And it's just fun to control an avatar in a virtual world delivering a great world experience in the game.
10.Bioshock- It's gory, creepy and insane fun <end>

Hey, I know the first post was a bit vague but hey, that's what it is. We are a media "company". A company of two. Maybe three in the next few days/weeks/months (if we survive). What is media? Media is very very very big. It's what you could call "can't explain it look it up". That's how big media is.
